These Here Are Crazy Times is the second studio album by Australian rock group Boom Crash Opera, released in October 1989. The album was the breakthrough album to the lucrative U. Market for the band & was released in the United States by Giant records. This release had 2 new reworked versions of the songs Talk About It and The Best Thing. Both songs were re-recorded with producer Jimmy Iovine of U2 fame, after Bono from U2 became a fan of the band during the U2 Love Town tour of Australia in 1989. Listen album. Boom Crash Opera. Boom Crash Opera's most successful album, These Here Are Crazy Times was an album of slick, commercial pop. As in previous outings, lead singer Dale Ryder's effortless although somewhat limited vocal delivery and Richard Pleasance's skillful guitar work helped disguise the fact that underneath the catchy melodies and slick production, there wasn't a lot of substance to Boom Crash Opera's music. The highlight of this set is the genuinely memorable Dancing in the Storm, and the song became one of four hit singles to be released from the album - the others being Onion Skin which reached the Australian Top Ten. There is a reason why songs from 'These Here Are Crazy Times' dominate Boom Crash Opera's greatest hits album 'The Best Things' and that is quite simple, 1989 is when they topped the charts like never before and released their best songs. Now, some of these songs do deserve to be left in the shadows. Mountain Of Strength, for instance, is a dreadful tune, and while Onion Skin may be a fun little party number live, it wears very thin on the album within just a couple of listens. The album is much better off with such whimsical gimmickry skipped. Boom Crash Opera are a pop-rock band formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1985. That being said, 'These Here Are Crazy Times' is every bit as good as pop on the American charts at the time. For starters, this is a band that has an amazing front man, Dale Ryder
