All I can say is forget the Hollywood records pressings, as these 'half speed masters' are so much better. I've been buying these and so far not one has been disappointing. The vinyl is so quiet, I forget I am listening to a record, and this is no lie. Music sounds wonderful, full and no sibilance/echo or surface noise at all! IMO, forget an original, as these pressings are highly recommended. God save the Queen!!

I'm a bit disappointed by this. After reading the comments below I picked up the 2015 issue rather than hunting down an original. While it's a great album, its sound left me a bit cold - there wasn't a lot of space or definition, something I put down to the album having been over-processed when it was recorded. Wrong! Curiosity got the better of me - today I picked up the original PCSD107 record from a second hand shop and it sounds so much more dynamic. If it's a digital recording as I've read, I don't understand how the tapes could have degraded in this way, so I can only guess some compression has been added deliberately during this supposedly definitive remastering and the edge taken off the top. Why? The original, even though it isn't on fancy 180g vinyl, sounds so much more engaging than the reissue. Not to mention the picture quality on the repress is much less sharp than the original - again, why? Were the original files really not kept? It seems inconceivable they weren't archived when Parlophone must have known a band as big as Queen would want to reissue their albums at some stage. Given the fuss that surrounds this remaster campaign, this stuff is so out of place. In its defence the cut itself is great, no distortion, very quiet background - really brings out, sadly, the shortcomings of the mastering.
