Title: Le secret 1974. He claims to be pursued by certain authorities who intend to prevent him from disclosing a secret that only he holds, whence the title. Is he lying, or insane - or is he telling the truth Who, if anyone, is after him And what is - the secret Written by Michael R. Brown michael. The Who 'Secret Show 1974' 2001 Zeus : Z 201029012 Guild Hall, Portsmouth, UK Wednesday May 22nd, 1974. Good Audience Recording Encoded: 320 Kbps MP3. This is the show the band put on for the 1500 students from the local university and colleges who had worked as extras in the Tommy film. Because it was a private show, added to the fact there was a lot of non-Who fanatics present, they put on a superb performance, displaying the tight knit play lacking at Charlton. Pete would later call this one of his favourite gigs. The general quality is ok, although some chat is a little hard to define. Secret Number Official. Today at 05:17. The Who Concert File book states as follows: The Who played a special thank you concert for the extras who worked on the Tommy movie. The geneal public weren't admitted, though as sold out notice appeared in Melody Maker on May 11, 1974. During Bell Boy, the band got so out of time with the synthesiser backing that Pete ordered everyone to stop, had Bob Pridden rewind the tape, and the song was begun again. The first Who album in 13 years opens with a perfectly cynical Pete Townshend lyric: I dont careI know youre gonna hate this song. But its kind of hard to hate something that feels so familiar. Even the album cover is an acknowledgement of the records innate Who factor its by Peter Blake, who made the Whos similarly laid-out Face Dances sleeve as well as Sgt. Peppers and it contains nods to the bands idols Chuck Berry and Muhammad Ali and their past panels depicting Townshend smashing his guitar, a Union Jack, even Batman and Robin, since they once covered the Adam West Batman theme. On the Who's first album in 13 years, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend sound invigorated, even in songs that address 70-something concerns. And this from an outfit that pretty much entirely skipped its own middle age, having released just one album 2006s little noticed Endless Wire in the long, stingy lapse between their supposed 1982 swan song, Its Hard, and the present day.
